It turns out they do! We've been fortunate to work with some amazing families and several of them have graciously agreed to share some of their feelings about our services.  Additional references are available upon request.

Becca is an amazing doula. We hadn't met prior to my labor starting, but when my husband and I met her at the hospital when I was in labor, we both immediately felt comfortable. Becca has a warm and compassionate presence. Her words of encouragement and suggestions for progress and pain relief during labor were immensely helpful.  She was an integral part of the birth of our daughter, and we even asked her to cut the cord. I am incredibly grateful to have had her by my side, and believe that her support helped enable me to have the natural birth that I wanted.

Kate was wonderful! This was my first birth and it did not go the way I'd planned. I ended up needing to be induced 2 weeks before my due date and it was about 27 hours from when contractions began to when baby was born. My husband was very eager to help but wasn't quite sure what 'helping' me would look like. Kate was so incredibly helpful to my husband and I but she was also so unobtrusive that we were able to focus on each other and the sacred process of labor and birth that we were experiencing. She walked the halls with me for hours and gave my husband some down time, she helped me find the best position on the yoga ball, skillfully massaged my back and my hands. She gave me words of encouragement when I needed them and provided distracting conversation when I needed that more. She helped explain what I was going through to my husband and reminded him of things that he could do to best help me during that phase. Kate is really skilled at "reading the room", she stood by my side, held my hand and wiped my brow when I needed her to and even without my asking she'd melt into the background when I needed to focus on husband or my baby. Kate took wonderful notes during the labor and up to birth that she later shared with me and at our request, she snapped a few pictures of my husband and I while I was laboring and immediately after our baby was born. I 'm so grateful to have these tangible memories! :) Oh, her email, text & phone correspondance was stellar! She has a wealth of knowledge and resources for the nervous expecting momma. She came to our home a week or so after our baby was born to check in with us. She helped me to put on the Moby wrap which I'd found very intimidating and listened to how our new life (new baby ground hog day) with our new little one was going. I would highly recomend Kate to anyone interested in a doula's services.

Kate was indispensable in helping me through the postpartum period. Following a long labor that ended in an unplanned C-section, I struggled with breastfeeding. While I was still in the hospital, I contacted Kate who quickly made herself available. She came and spent several hours supporting me, educating me about breastfeeding and helping me with my technique. I can honestly say that had it not been for her, I would have given up on breastfeeding. Her home visits were just as essential for my recovery and for building my confidence as a new mother. She continued to help me with breastfeeding, answered questions regarding infant care and helped around the house. Kate's warm, supportive, and calming presence gave me strength when I needed it the most. I am grateful that I had Kate by my side during my first days as a mother and recommend her wholeheartedly.

Kate DeWolf was such a fabulous help to us in our first few days and weeks as a family. She is a fountain of knowledge about everything from breastfeeding to community resources to baby wearing (and so much more!). She was just the right amount of calm, comfort, and support. I felt so much more confident as a mama knowing that she was only a text or phone call away. My daughter and I had some breastfeeding challenges and Kate was my go-to girl for advice, tips and reassurances. I can't recommend her highly enough! Do yourself a giant favor and hire Kate as a postpartum doula. It's a decision that is sure to make you an even more awesome parent!

I so appreciated having Kate's support before, especially during, and after the birth of my second child.  Kate and Becca offered their knowledge and support in the pre- and post- birth periods, which was really helpful even though I had read a lot myself because they asked important questions and helped me to think through, for example, issues with tandem nursing.  During the birth, Kate offered sensitive support to both me and my spouse and sister who were attending the birth.  She was willing to provide hands-on support to make my natural delivery more comfortable, and also gave my loved ones ideas for what might be supportive, not stepping on their roles but providing additional resources. I felt like I could focus on the task at hand, and now I have a wonderful memory of an empowering birth experience and a wonderful baby.  I am so grateful.

Becca was an incredible source of positivity throughout my first birth experience. She was the perfect cheerleader, both for me, and for my husband. Her ability to notice when and where I was tensing up and encouraging me to relax those muscle groups really helped throughout the dilation process. I really appreciated her creativity and encouragement to try new laboring positions. It seems like it is easy to get stuck in a position that is relatively comfortable, but by trying new positions, I think my labor progressed much faster than it would have otherwise. She even devised a way to get a birth ball into the birthing tub so I could lean over it and have my back sprayed down with hot water at the same time- AMAZING!

Both Becca and Kate were a great source of information and support from the moment we hired them. I think they have a great system going that allows them to be very present for each birth.

I cannot recommend Athens Born Birth Services highly enough! Kate and Becca were absolutely wonderful to work with for the birth of our second child. They are both so personable, knowledgeable, and exude such calming energy. My husband and I felt at ease immediately upon meeting them. Prior to our birth, Kate and Becca checked in with us regularly and they were very responsive to any questions I had. Kate was on call the night I went into labor with my son. When my labor moved much faster than I anticipated, Kate helped give me the tools to move past my feelings of panic. She helped me stay focused throughout my labor and eased my anxiety in moments when I was feeling out of control. Kate was a truly vital support to both my husband and myself during the birth of my son and we are so very grateful that we had her incredible doula services.

We are so grateful that Kate was part of our pregnancy journey and birth story for our first baby. We interviewed several doulas around Athens. Kate and Becca are professional, knowledgeable, and just very easy to talk to. My husband and I found ourselves saying, "I'm so glad we hired a doula," many times as our due date came and went. Though we had the labor and birth we had hoped to avoid, Kate was still there when we needed her during my induction and c-section. My husband will tell you she took some of the pressure off him and provided an opportunity for him to rest during the early morning hours of my labor. They are very quick to respond to any questions, provide encouragement, and be the experienced voice to tell us this is all normal. The postpartum check in and breastfeeding check in were so valuable to me. Kate even helped us navigate our baby wearing options. We really do love and highly recommend Athens Born!

Five stars is simply not enough to rate my experience with Becca and AthensBorn Birth Services. I was new to the world of Placenta Encapsulation and being a mommy! Becca was there every step of the way to answer all my questions and make sure I had a complete understanding of what my husband would say the "bizarre process" of placenta encapsulation. She even answered general questions about my pregnancy and labor. I am extremely satisfied with my decision to get my placenta encapsulated. I had an amazing recovery and have been in good spirits since the day we got home from the hospital. I am a true believer! My husband has even jumped on the band wagon! Becca was so sweet and checked up on me often. She was there the minute my little Charlotte entered the world to make sure she was able to collect my placenta. It is unfortunate that we have to move out of state because I would definitely use AthensBorn Birth Services for my future pregnancies!

AthensBorn is, in short, incredible. From the unlimited meetings, guidance, and attention on the prenatal side to the presence throughout the birth experience to the support postpartum, Becca and Kate provide a simply phenomenal service. I was so impressed with how quickly and thoroughly they responded to emails and how willing they were to meet at any time. They were resourceful and provided useful information and answers for our many questions. I knew that I wanted a doula present during labor because of the constant presence and support provided, and I really cannot emphasize the importance of that aspect. If you have a physician delivering your baby, you will hardly see him/her while you labor. A midwife is more present than a physician but often cannot be ever-present. A doula is by your side for every second of labor and delivery, and I believe that is an invaluable quality. I labored at home for a long time and Becca came to our home during that time to provide suggestions and support. When we checked into the hospital at 7 pm and labored all throughout the night until 7 am, she was there for every moment walking me through each contraction, making sure I stayed hydrated, and massaging my back (a true saint, she was!). My husband was able to be very involved and supportive as well. They made such a wonderful team! After staying up all night with me in labor, Becca helped me through hours of pushing. When my attempt at a natural, unmedicated labor took a turn and we landed in the OR for a csection, she was right there, a calming presence steadying us in what could have otherwise felt like chaos. We all shed some serious tears as my sweet daughter entered the world, and Becca made sure we had lots of pictures of those first moments. As my husband said, AthensBorn was worth every penny spent. We couldn't have done it without you! <3

When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I honestly had no idea what a doula was. I knew I wanted to go the natural route, but also knew it was going to be like "preparing for a marathon" and I needed a good coach! My midwife recommended that we look into doulas and the more I looked the more Kate and Becca came up. We interviewed with them once and knew they would be a great fit for us. They were such an amazing resource for me throughout my pregnancy and it was such a good feeling knowing we had them by our side through our journey. It also took some pressure off of my husband in that he didn't feel like he would have to be my only support. We knew we had a professional by our sides. When the time came they talked us through the contractions and when to go to the hospital. My birth "plan" was just that, and as we all know, plans can quickly change. Kate was so supportive for me and my husband. And although my birth plan was a little tweaked thanks to my stubborn daughter, Kate let me know that we were doing the right thing and that I was still one tough mama. She stayed through the birthing process and made sure I was able to feed my daughter for the first time. I am so happy with how my daughters birth went and I know if Kate wasn't there it could've been way more stressful than it was. She was a voice for us and a complete angel. After my daughter was born, Kate and Becca were there for me at all hours for all of my "first time mom" questions. I don't have any family here in Athens so they were my support system. Kate came over the week after my daughter was born and I swear it was like a breath of fresh air. She answered all of my questions and spent hours with me and my newborn. I could go on and on about AthensBorn, so trust me when I say Kate and Becca are the most amazing doulas and PEOPLE and I am soooo thankful we hired them. It was the best thing I could've done for myself. IF we decide on another baby, you better believe they will be the first to know;)

Kate provided an incredible service to our family! We were new to the area and had some unexpected difficulties in the last few weeks before our son was born. Kate made herself available to talk through the options we were being given and the impacts on postpartum care, even before we were sure we were looking for postpartum doula services. Her compassion and expertise were apparent from that first conversation. Her postpartum visits were relaxed and completely customizable to the needs of my family. She checked in with my husband and I before and after visits to make sure things were going well and passed along information on valuable community resources. Just knowing she was a phone call, text, or email away made the first several weeks (and the inevitable bumps) more manageable!

I contacted Kate from the hospital to ask about her availability to work with my family. Within hours, she responded to my email and fit me into her schedule to come to our house as soon as we left the hospital. Kate brought the most wonderful mix of compassion, enthusiasm, and knowledge when we needed it most. Our primary focus was breastfeeding support and Kate's expertise was invaluable. She carefully observed and gave insight and advice that helped my baby and I achieve very successful breastfeeding. Kate's care extended beyond our face to face time. She provided resources through email that answered our specific questions and she continued to provide support remotely after our meetings. We feel very fortunate that we had the opportunity to work with Kate.

Becca was a joy to work with through the birth of my third child!  Many people wondered why I would want a doula for a third baby - obviously, I knew what was coming.  However, after having medicated births with the first two, I really wanted to experience a natural birth for my last pregnancy.  Not only did I achieve the birth I wanted, but I know it would not have been possible without the support Becca provided during labor and delivery.  It was wonderful to work with someone who knew strategies to keep labor progressing and keep me engaged and focused on birthing my daughter.  Overall, I highly recommend Becca, and know that my birth goals could not have been achieved without her!

For the first two weeks after my birth, I couldn't think of Becca Crowe without bursting into tears of appreciation. Becca was exceptionally thoughtful, emotionally wise, prepared, thorough, and doggedly devoted to supporting our evolving needs. She helped me cope, to feel confident, and to come to peace with the course my labor and birth took; she helped my partner sleep, plan, and eat. Becca offered valuable advice and love both leading up to our labor and at every advance during labor and birth. She went above and beyond any expectation I had for a doula, and my family is better for having been recipients of her emotional and physical doula labor. If I were have another baby in Athens, Becca would be my very first choice for a doula. ​

Becca was my doula for my second baby, Maggie. I had a difficult birth with my first son so I knew I wanted a doula when I got pregnant again. I am so glad I chose Becca. She was so calm and reassuring during my labor. I would have been lost without her! She not only comforted me during contractions, but also comforted my Mom and husband. They knew I was in good hands with her. She reassured me when I was freaking out and was always ready with another suggestion when a certain position wash working. More importantly, she supported my decisions and never made me feel badly for how I chose to labor.

Becca also encapsulated my placenta and made prints and an umbilical cord keepsake. She educated me about the benefits of taking the pills and answered all my questions. The placenta prints and umbilical cord keepsake were beautiful. I love having something tangible to remember how my body made and nourished my daughter.

Becca and her partner are very professional. She responds promptly and explains things clearly. You can tell when you talk to her that she is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and birth and that she loves what she does.

I used Athens Born Birth Services post partum doula established care package after my 3rd c-section. Kate was an essential part of my recovery and helped keep our house functional as I recovered from my surgery and bonded with my baby. She did dishes, laundry, toddler care, and let me shower and nap! Adjusting to life with 3 little ones has been hard, but it would have been nearly impossible without Kate's help. Everyone needs a postpartum doula!!

We highly recommend using Kate and Becca for any of their services. When our birth plan did not go as expected (we ended up with a scheduled c-section because of a breech baby), Kate and Becca were very supportive and respectful and helped us think through both the practicalities and emotions of preparing for a different kind of labor than we had anticipated. We had Becca encapsulate my placenta and make a tincture from it. She sent us awesome photos of the placenta, umbilical cord, and amniotic sac before she dehydrated them. Kate provided us with amazing post-partum support And knowledge. We struggled with breastfeeding issues, and Kate helped us navigate some very emotional decisions. She was always available to us via text or phone call, and visited us in our home to check-in in person. Her support and availability made an extremely stressful situation seem much more manageable and made us feel less isolated and lost. We are continually grateful for everything this doula team did for us pre and post birth!
