Do people really like you guys?
It turns out they do! We've been fortunate to work with some amazing families and several of them have graciously agreed to share some of their feelings about our services. Additional references are available upon request.
Farah & KausarKate was wonderful! This was my first birth and it did not go the way I'd planned. I ended up needing to be induced 2 weeks before my due date and it was about 27 hours from when contractions began to when baby was born. My husband was very eager to help but wasn't quite sure what 'helping' me would look like. Kate was so incredibly helpful to my husband and I but she was also so unobtrusive that we were able to focus on each other and the sacred process of labor and birth that we were experiencing. She walked the halls with me for hours and gave my husband some down time, she helped me find the best position on the yoga ball, skillfully massaged my back and my hands. She gave me words of encouragement when I needed them and provided distracting conversation when I needed that more. She helped explain what I was going through to my husband and reminded him of things that he could do to best help me during that phase. Kate is really skilled at "reading the room", she stood by my side, held my hand and wiped my brow when I needed her to and even without my asking she'd melt into the background when I needed to focus on husband or my baby. Kate took wonderful notes during the labor and up to birth that she later shared with me and at our request, she snapped a few pictures of my husband and I while I was laboring and immediately after our baby was born. I 'm so grateful to have these tangible memories! :) Oh, her email, text & phone correspondance was stellar! She has a wealth of knowledge and resources for the nervous expecting momma. She came to our home a week or so after our baby was born to check in with us. She helped me to put on the Moby wrap which I'd found very intimidating and listened to how our new life (new baby ground hog day) with our new little one was going. I would highly recomend Kate to anyone interested in a doula's services.

Mary & MatthewI cannot recommend Athens Born Birth Services highly enough! Kate and Becca were absolutely wonderful to work with for the birth of our second child. They are both so personable, knowledgeable, and exude such calming energy. My husband and I felt at ease immediately upon meeting them. Prior to our birth, Kate and Becca checked in with us regularly and they were very responsive to any questions I had. Kate was on call the night I went into labor with my son. When my labor moved much faster than I anticipated, Kate helped give me the tools to move past my feelings of panic. She helped me stay focused throughout my labor and eased my anxiety in moments when I was feeling out of control. Kate was a truly vital support to both my husband and myself during the birth of my son and we are so very grateful that we had her incredible doula services.

Molly, & GrayWe highly recommend using Kate and Becca for any of their services. When our birth plan did not go as expected (we ended up with a scheduled c-section because of a breech baby), Kate and Becca were very supportive and respectful and helped us think through both the practicalities and emotions of preparing for a different kind of labor than we had anticipated. We had Becca encapsulate my placenta and make a tincture from it. She sent us awesome photos of the placenta, umbilical cord, and amniotic sac before she dehydrated them. Kate provided us with amazing post-partum support And knowledge. We struggled with breastfeeding issues, and Kate helped us navigate some very emotional decisions. She was always available to us via text or phone call, and visited us in our home to check-in in person. Her support and availability made an extremely stressful situation seem much more manageable and made us feel less isolated and lost. We are continually grateful for everything this doula team did for us pre and post birth!
